Sofia Moody is a Portuguese tuba player. In 2019, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Orchestra at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra, with Adélio Carneiro, during which Sofia was a regular guest tuba player at the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa.
To continue her tuba studies, Sofia moved to Zurich, Switzerland, where she completed a Masters in Music Performance and a Masters in Specialized Orchestra Performance with Anne Jelle Visser. For the first degree, Sofia had a full scholarship from the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.
As a requirement of the Specialized Orchestra Masters, Sofia did an internship with the Philharmonia Zürich – Orchestra of the Zurich Opera House – with which she has continued playing, since the end of the Internship, on occasion, as a guest tuba player.
During her musical studies, Sofia took part in many masterclasses and orchestra/wind band internships. In 2018 she was selected to take part in the Symphonic Session of the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra.
